The time has finally arrived for CIOs to put their faith in DevSecOps as the need to embed security into development lifecycles looks set to be a priority for 2022.
This is the belief of Gartner analyst Mark Horvath who has said he thinks DevSecOps is ready for the big time after a period of unfulfilled promise. He is calling for CIOs to invest and innovate with the idea as they look to build applications fit for the future.
DevSecOps is a growingly popular methodology that allows developers to fix software issues before a vulnerability in exploited by cybercriminals. DevSecOps technologies help to automate security tools and processes helping DevOps teams to keep pace with threats.
Horvath has commented in the past that DevSecOps, as a discipline, has been slow to mature and prone to overhyping by security vendors. But with security threats diversifying and breaches becoming more serious it is time to build security more deeply at the level of the application.
