Global confectionery manufacturer Perfetti Van Melle has revolutionised its supply chain planning capabilities and accelerated its digital transformation journey with the use of a new AI-driven platform.
The company, which makes and distributes confectionery and chewing gum brands such as Mentos, Chupa Chups, Fruit-tella, Smint and Airheads, has deployed the Digital Brain solution from AI software platform provider o9 Solutions. It said it will now be able to innovate in planning and decision-making in over 150 countries where it is active.
Perfetti Van Melle said it aims to optimize its supply chain planning process to navigate today’s supply chain complexity and volatility. It chose the o9 platform because of its scenario planning integrated with financial information, and its offer of end-to-end visibility. The partnership will equip the manufacturer with integrated business planning and supply chain planning capabilities, along with modules for Material Requirements Planning, Deployment Planning, and Multi-Echelon Inventory Optimization.
