The solar energy division of a major Canadian construction company has had its efficiency enhanced with the deployment of radical AI-based technology.
PCL Construction carries out work across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and Australia in sectors such as civil infrastructure, heavy industry and renewable energy. The volume of its global construction turnover is over $8 billion, making it the largest contracting organization in Canada and one of the largest in North America.
Now PCL Construction’s Solar Division is working with AI Clearing in a multi-year partnership which will augment the way it carries out solar energy projects with better production tracking, quality checks and tracking of key performance indicators.
At the heart of the partnership is AI Clearing’s AI Surveyor solution. AI Clearing is headquartered in Austin in Texas, and its platform uses AI to track quality, allowing for real-time construction project progress tracking and red flag identification, and generating reports covering 100% of a construction site area.
“We believe the combination of AI Clearing’s technical expertise with our wealth of construction experience will change how solar facilities are built, commissioned and managed,” commented Andrew Moles, Solar General Manager for PCL.
He added that many parts of the solar lifecycle could be much more efficient, requiring a solution that delivered practical benefits such as increased efficiency, reduced surveying costs and mitigated construction-related risks.
